As part of the 11th ArtLink Festival 2023, the Bulgarian-Swiss conductor Viliana Valtcheva held an artistic residency with the regional chamber orchestra Camerata Balcanica and held a concert on October 18, 2023 in the City Hall in Novi Sad.

Viliana Valtcheva (Вилиана Вълчева) is a Bulgarian-Swiss conductor. In 1999, she successfully graduated from the high school of music in Varna as a pianist. During her studies in Varna, Miss Valčeva won top prizes as a pianist at the Czech Music Competition in Varna (1994), the Young Talents Competition in Sofia (1996) and the German Music Competition in Burgas (1998). In 2001, she graduated from the Conservatory in Bern, and in 2004, from the Higher School of Music in Neuchâtel, she obtained a diploma in piano accompaniment. In 2010, she completed her studies in Switzerland with a master’s degree in opera and symphonic conducting at the Lucerne Conservatory under the direction of Professor Ralf Weikert. In 2009, Valčeva participated in a conducting masterclass under the patronage of the Berlin Philharmonic (Dirigenten Werkstatt). In 2010, she participated in the final stage of the conductor competition in the city of Cadaques/Spain. In the meantime, she had the opportunity to participate in various master classes led by conductors Zubin Mehta, Fabio Luisi, Bernard Haitink. Since 2004, her stage performances as a conductor have gradually progressed. She has already conducted the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, worked as an assistant conductor at the Wagner Festival in Wales/Austria, Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra, Haydn Sinfonietta Wien, Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra, Nordbomische Philharmonie Orchestra, Baphil-Czech-Baden Republic. Since 2013, Miss Valčeva has been regularly invited to the Lucerner Theater as an assistant conductor and pianist. In 2008 and 2014, Valčeva received a scholarship for further education from two foundations: Zeno Karl Schindler – Geneva and Richard Wagner – Bayreuth.

At the beginning of 2014, Valčeva was invited by maestro Borislav Ivanova to conduct the orchestra of the Varna State Opera.
