EFFE certificates for 22 festivals from Serbia

The certificates for 22 festivals from Serbia were presented at the gala promotion of the EFFE – Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe, a new international festival community, at the City Assembly of Belgrade late on Tuesday.

Head of EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport handed out the EFFE certificates for 2015/16, and the 22 festivals have thus become part of the big European festival network.

Davenport said on the occasion he is particularly glad that Serbia has decided to partake in the EU’s pilot project through the ArtLink Association.

Serbia is known in the world for its culture of festivals, and now it has further established its place on the European cultural map, the ambassador noted.

ArtLink Director Jovanka Visekruna Jankovic said this is a considerable success for Serbia and this association, which, as a partner to the European Festivals Association, managed to make it possible for Serbian festivals to take part in the project.

“Serbia is the only country in the region which joined the project intended for EU states, so the 22 festivals from Serbia succeeded in gaining the EFFE Label in the first generation of recipients for 2015/16,” she said.

The event in Belgrade followed the EFFE Award Ceremony which took place in Paris on Sunday, where EFFE Label recipients were presented and 12 EFFE Awards were given to 12 festivals.
