ArtLink Young Talents’ Festival presents Tubists Manuel Mayer and Jakob Wenigwieser, and Alisa Bešević Busslechner, pianist, Austria Manuel Mayer, tuba, Austria
Manuel Mayer was born in 1995. He commenced his music education in 2003 when he began learning the Steirische Harmonika. Already in 2005, he won the 1st Prize at the Kärtner “Flattacher Kirchtagsmusi” competition of Austrian traditional music.
In 2007 he started his trombone studies in the class of Peter Vierbach. In 2008 he won the 1st Prize at the international competition “Prima la Musica” with the “Four Slides” ensemble, playing the trombone.
In 2008 he decided to go with the tuba in the class of Peter Vierbach. With the new instrument, he also won the 1st Prize at the state and federal competition “Prima la Musica” in 2009.
Manuel took up his university-level studies of the tuba in 2010 at the Privatuniversität Wien in Vienna, in the class of Paul Halwax. As a soloist, but also with ensembles, he won several first prizes at Austrian state and federal competitions, with special prizes, and at the International Competitions in Passau (Germany) in 2012, 2015 and in Osaka (Japan) in 2015.
Since 2013 he is studying at the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität in Linz (Austria), in the class of Prof. Wilfried Brandstötter. Since 2015 he is specialising at the concert department.
Manuel won the third place at the “Eurovision Young Musicians” competition in Austria, in 2014.
He is developing his orchestral experience with “Junge Philharmonie” in Vienna, the “Bundesjugendorchester”, Germany, and the “Orchesterakademie Ossiach” in Germany.

Jakob Wenigwieser, tuba, Austria
Jakob Wenigwieser was born in July 1991 in Linz, Austria. At the age of eight, he began his music education on the recorder (Blockflöte), but also an instrument frequently used in Austrian traditional music – the zither.
He decided to switch to the tuba in 2003, at the Perg Music School, in the class of Prof. Helmut Hackl. In 2009 he won the 1st Prize at the Austrian Federal Competition “Prima la Musica” and met Prof. Wilfried Brandstötter.
Since 2010, Jakob is studying at the Anton Bruckner Privatuniveristät in Linz, in the class of Prof. Wilfried Brandstötter.
He developed his orchestral experience with the Bruckner Orchestra of Linz in 2013-2015 (academic placement), in 2016 as a substitute in Brass Band OÖ, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Youth Orchestra of Upper Austria, and in several wind symphony orchestras (Perg, Ried and Linz).
He is a docent at seminars for young musicians. He partakes at tuba masterclasses by renowned tubists from Austria, Germany, Norway, Scotland, USA and Australia.
As a soloist, he participated in major competitions in Markneukirchen, concert at ITEC in Linz as well as with several wind orchestras in Austria.
Jakob Wenigwieser is currently attending a master’s degree (concert specialisation) in Linz, Austria.
Alisa Bešević-Busslechner, piano (Serbia / Austria)
Alias was born in Belgrade, into the family of renowned musicians. From an early age, Alisa studied piano with internationally renowned pianists and pedagogues. At a very young age, she started her musical education with Professor Arbo Valdma, and then with Professor Konstantin Bogino in whose class she graduated from at the University of Music in Belgrade. Alias received her Master’s degree from the University Mozarteum in Salzburg, with Professor Karl-Heinz Kämmerling.
Alisa attended numerous master classes in Italy, Austria and Germany, with Konstantin Bogino, Bruno Rigutto, Jean-Louis Hagenauer, Karl-Heinz Kammerling…
From 1995 until 2012 Alisa practised pedagogy as a piano teacher and artistic associate in OÖ Musikschulwerk. Since 2001 Alisa collaborated regularly, as a pianist, in the class of Professor Josef Kirner at Anton Bruckner University.
Since 2008, Alisa is an artistic associate at the Department of wind and percussion instruments at Anton Bruckner University in Linz, where she collaborates with professors Josef Kürner and Wilfried Brandstötter.
Her resume counts numerous concerts, piano recitals, concerts with the orchestra as a soloist as well as a chamber musician in Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia, Macedonia, as well as in Germany, Italy, France, Austria and the Dominican Republic.
Alisa has numerous television and radio recordings for Radio Belgrade, Zagreb and “Tell Antillas”.
Since 2012 Alisa Bešević-Busslechner performed numerous concerts in a piano duo with Waltraud Wulz.
