Music unites the Balkans Artistic residency and concerts in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Tirana




The Artistic Residency of Kamerata Balkanika 2023 was held in July in Belgrade with the Swiss-Serbian conductor Srboljub Dinić, but also in Novi Sad with the Bulgarian-Swiss conductor Vilijana Valcheva with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland and the Fund for the Western Balkans. As a result of this year’s residency, concerts were held on July 23 at 8 p.m. on the plateau near Pobednik at the Belgrade Fortress.

The music marathon Music Connects Balkans was held as part of the XI ArtLink festival, which is the result of a one-week art workshop with young artists from the Western Balkans, then on October 7 in Tirana and on October 18 in Novi Sad at the Town Hall.

ArtLink already traditionally represents the best musicians from the Balkans united in the Kamerata Balkanika project. Kamerata Balkanika regional chamber orchestra founded by pianist Jovanka Višekruna Janković and realized in cooperation with several partners from the ArtPlus region of Tirana, North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. ArtLink Kamerata Balkanika is a regional chamber orchestra made up of the most talented young musicians from the region, and grew out of the ensemble “ArtLink young virtuosos”. The orchestra was formed for the first time as part of the “Balkan-Visegrad Cultural Bridge” project, which is supported by the International Visegrad Fund, and continues its mission through a new regional and European platform for young talents.

The mission of this chamber ensemble is to present the best young artists from the region, as well as the region of the Western Balkans in a new way through the prism of successful young people who, by their example and commitment, show the good results of joint cooperation and creativity.

The members of the orchestra are young artists from the region, and the soloists this year were Lana Zorjan, a fourteen-year-old violinist from Nova Sad who won over 60 first and special prizes as well as laureates at international and national competitions in the country and abroad, Valentina Lučković, a twenty-two-year-old cellist from Nis, who enchanted audiences in France, Italy, China… with her performances and pianist and Artistic Director Jovanka Visekruna Jankovic. The concert masters were Laura LLozi, a violinist from Albania, and Kristina Marušić. The orchestra is led by one of the world’s most recognized Serbian-Swiss conductors, maestro Srboljub Dinić, and the great conductor Viliana Valcheva.
