The School for Music Talents, Ćuprija (Serbia)

The School for Music Talents in Ćuprija is one of the most recognisable and prestigious institutions for music education in the Republic of Serbia. Unique in its education plan and programme, its goal – with the help of the leading instructors – is to educate the talented children who become its students and assist them to develop into professional musicians. Throughout the ten years of education, the members of this “Big musical family” live in the School’s boarding facilities and engage in an intensive program of music, but also general education.

Besides its core, educative and cultivate role, the School has a wealth of competitive and concert activities. The students partake in competitions throughout the country and abroad, winning notable prizes, and regularly hold concerts in prominent halls nationally (Kolarac Endowment in Belgrade, Gallery of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Belgrade, Belgrade Cultural Centre, etc.) and internationally (Romania, Italy, France, Russia, etc.).

The renowned School, catering for studies of string instruments, professionally cooperating closely with the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, internationally famous for its results and famed former students, is celebrating its 42nd year. Only two other schools in the world operate with the same concept – the Central Music School (College) at the P.I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory and the Yehudi Menuhin School in London.

The School for Music Talents has the status of the “School of special national interest”.
